For UK Electricians

Cables, certs, customers – and tax.

Built for electricians juggling rewires, EICR inspections, and one-day jobs. Track time, materials, and certs against every job. File HMRC MTD without paying an accountant £600 a year.

If you're a sole trader electrician,
some of this sounds familiar.

Graft was built specifically because none of the existing tools fit how a electrician actually works.

×

Cert numbers in three places

EIC, EICR, MWC – handwritten on a duplicate book, photographed for the customer, copied later into a folder. Or not.

×

Materials margin lost in the wholesaler bag

Wago connectors, conduit, CCUs, RCDs – bag from Edmundson, bag from CEF, bag from Screwfix. Cost per job? Approximately.

×

Day rate vs price work – no clarity

Mix of fixed-price jobs and day rates. By month-end you can't tell which made you money.

×

MTD looming

April 2026. £50k threshold. Most domestic electricians are over it. Compliance starts soon.

What changes when you switch to Graft.

Designed for one person on a phone, on a job, with dirty hands. Not for an accountant in an office.

/ 01

Job + cert in one record

Attach EIC/EICR/MWC numbers and PDFs to the job. Searchable. Exportable. Audit-friendly.

/ 02

Wholesaler receipts auto-logged

Snap the till slip from CEF, Edmundson, or Screwfix. Costs land on the right job.

/ 03

Day-rate vs fixed comparison

See per-day profit on day-rate jobs vs per-job profit on fixed work. Decide what to bid more of.

/ 04

MTD submissions, sole trader simple

Quarterly figures auto-prepped. One tap to HMRC. No accountant required.

Electricians tax, sorted.

Test gear, certification, cable, van — a spark's costs add up fast, and every one is deductible. Graft records them against the job so your Making Tax Digital quarterly submission is built from real data, not a last-minute guess.

/ 01

Van & fuel

Work van finance, diesel, insurance, servicing and the miles between jobs.

/ 02

Test equipment

Multifunction tester, calibration, PAT tester and loop/RCD test kit.

/ 03

Tools

Drills, SDS, cable rods, crimpers, strippers and hand tools.

/ 04

Electricians & Making Tax Digital.

Do electricians need MTD software?

Sole trader electricians earning over £50,000 must file quarterly digital updates to HMRC from April 2026. Graft logs jobs and materials and submits the return, so you don't need a separate accounting package.

What can an electrician claim as expenses?

Test-equipment calibration, NICEIC or NAPIT fees, cable and consumer units, tools, van and fuel, and workwear. Graft attaches every receipt to the right job automatically.

Does Graft support CIS for electricians?

Yes. Subcontract electrical work on construction sites is within CIS. Graft records the 20% deducted at source so your income figures reconcile at year end.
